Gone Fishin’

On this lovely, hot day, Jon took the boys fishing at a nearby public lake. We went there a few days ago but didn’t catch any fish. I ended up not being able to go today, and I missed out on all the fun. They caught four fish!!

First, Robert caught a large mouth bass, which he brought home to show off to Mommy. He was so thrilled! It was his first catch. :)

He said the fish’s name was “Ribbet Fishy Frog.” It weighed 1 pound 8 ounces and was 15 inches long.

Jon caught a spotted bass that he threw back. Then James reeled in a second, even  bigger, large mouth.

He said its name was “Dinner.” :D It weighed 2 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 inches long. Wow! Quite a fish.

Nick caught a bream, but the fish stringer was too big for its little mouth so they threw it back. We took a pic of Nick with the big fish instead.

Ribbet Fishy Frog and Dinner have been filleted and are freezing in salt water now. We plan to fry them for dinner tomorrow. We (well, everyone except Jon) have never eaten fresh-caught fish before … hmm. I hope it’ll be as good as I’ve heard.
