In my life this week… I wrote a journal last week and then forgot to link up!
The weather’s been quite cool and cloudy all week. It feels more like early September than early June. I’m trying to enjoy it while I can (and get the kids to play out as much as possible!) since I know it’ll turn hot again pretty soon.
In our homeschool this week… we didn’t have school Wednesday because Nick & Robert had a doctor appointment that morning. I did take math papers for Nick and James to do in the waiting room, though. Robert’s learning to identify numerals and is having fun with his color pages. James is still enthusiastically reading all the early reader books he can find. He’s even tackling some of the Berenstain Bear books.
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share… be patient. Learning comes for each child in its own time.
I am inspired by… sweetly singing birds outside my window.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… Nick & James decided to go to church camp this year. Nick went when he was 7 and 8 but then didn’t want to go any more. James was interested this year, and Nick said he’d go if James was going. Now they’re both super excited and got the suitcase out already even though camp doesn’t start for a few more weeks.
Robert, on the other hand, has been quite upset that he can’t go. He told his Mama on the phone, “I just have to get big.”
We’ll think of plenty of special things for him to do that week while his brothers are gone!
My favorite thing this week was… getting Chemistry II from Noeo Homeschool Science in the mail! Yahoo!!! I’ve had my envious eye on the curriculum for at least three years and am now getting to use it for a review for Hip Homeschool Moms.
What’s not working for us… everything’s going pretty well right now.
I’m reading… The Long Road Home: The Aftermath of the Second World War, which I’m not really enjoying and probably won’t finish. It’s going really slow, and I’m tired of waiting for it to pick up.
I’ve been checking out e-books from my local library, which I can search for and check out via their website and then have automatically downloaded to my Kindle Reader. I’ve been grabbing books that I ordinarily wouldn’t look for among the physical shelves at the library. (I’m usually too busy in the juvenile section, grabbing books for our school.) Some of the books have been really good; some are just ho-hum.
I’m cooking… fried chicken, french fries, and texas toast per request of Nick. I was planning to make some kind of chicken and rice (I am soooo enjoying rice all the time lately), but we bought a loaf of texas toast from the mark-down counter today and Nick requested a “pseudo-Sonic” meal.
I’m grateful… for my family.
I’m praying for… a new and permanent job for my husband.
A photo to share…

Happy snow days, early 2011.
