Happy 8th Birthday, Nicholas!
My oldest son Nicholas turns eight years old today! For a long time, I would look at him and think, “Where did he come from?” It was always so hard to believe that I had my own child. Even after James came along, I would think the same thing about both of them. Now that we have Robert, though, I never think about that. I think I don’t have time to think.
I wanted to share with you a photo-a-year from Nicholas’ life. Eight happy years in our home.

Nicholas was born on a Tuesday after a 45 minute labor, and he was (as you can see) perfect.
First Birthday

I didn’t want to introduce him to sugar so early, but I thought honey would be okay. I made honey cupcakes for his party and he devoured them. He was up until 1am.
Second Birthday

He could say the alphabet and count to 30, but he was still my walking talking baby.
Third Birthday

Four

Five

Six

Seven

TODAY – The Big Eight

He stands to my shoulder and his feet are only 1.5″ shorter than mine. Ahhhh!
(You can see my headless baby on the couch – I have to hide his head ever since I cut his hair. Ha! Just kidding. By the way, my camera must have the wrong date on it because I did take that picture today, the fifth of December – not the fourth.)
Happy Birthday, Nicholas!

Happy Birthday, Nicholas! Those pictures are so nice to have of each birthday year. My dad always took pictures of us on our birthdays too when we were kids.
Congratulations Nicholas. I’m sitting here at work and still wondering how you have gotten so big. I still remember cutting your cord and holding you for the first time. I love you Big guy. Dad
Happy belated Birthday Nicholas! We both wish you a wonderful day! Those pictures of all your birthdays are great!
