Happy Birthday, Robert!

Today is my youngest son Robert’s birthday. He’s one year old today!

Since I shared a photo a year with you on Nicholas’ birthday, I thought I’d share a photo a month in honor of Robert’s first year.

His due date was January 24, 2008. When I was seven months pregnant, Nicholas took this picture of me. Little did we know that Robert would be born less than three weeks later.

Due to complications and a(n over)zealous obstetrician, Robert arrived on a Friday evening, weighing four pounds, five ounces. He was 18 inches long.

He grew slowly and at one month, he only weighed three ounces more than his birth weight.

At two months, he has almost reached the six pound threshold but was at 5 pounds 10 ounces.

Almost unbelievably, on his three month birthday he weighed seven pounds two ounces – two ounces more than big brother Nicholas weighed at birth. Nicholas weighed about 15 pounds at three months. If Robert had been my first child, I’d have felt like a serious failure as a mother.

His weight gain finally picked up during his fourth month, and he started to gain an ounce a day.

By six months, he weighed 13 pounds nine ounces – nearly double what he had three months before and more than triple what he’d weighed at birth.

I’m sorry to say that I don’t have any pictures of Robert when he was nine months old…or at least nothing close to his birthday. I had a big gap on my camera from September 1 to October 5…

We had his birthday party yesterday. He had a pumpkin cake in a Snoopy shape with a little bit of frosting on it. We let him eat just a small taste of the frosting, but he had two pieces of cake.

I’m planning to post more pictures from his party as soon as I can. Today, we had a very busy day with our church’s Christmas program being held this evening. Robert was a little sheep in the program.

Happy Birthday, Robert!
